FAKE STORY TIME...
AI THE WINNER
The literary world was always built on class, nepotism and mutual backscratching which was bad enough but most of what published was real.
Now it faces a different challenge...it cannot even tell a AI entry from a real one at GRANTA level..not down the pecking order on some white middle-class persons mates rate website. No it is falling apart at the seams from the top down.
Three of the six regional winners were fully or substantially Ai generated and the cherry on the cake....
Wired also reports that one of the judges for the prize has been “accused of using AI to craft her descriptive blurb that accompanied the listing of ‘The Serpent in the Grove’ as a regional winner.’” Pangram labels the text as “AI-assisted.”
The future of Creative Writing courses is certain they will cease to exist within 10 years as there will be nothing but AI generated submissions. Right now savvy students without a interest in writing but happy to cop a full grant and maintenance will be submitting to courses. Universities should instigate Pangram tests at all levels and especially staff outputs.
